In My Mailbox (2)

In My Mailbox is a weekly meme hosted by Kristi @ The Story Siren.

I've been a bit slack with my reading the past few weeks, as assignments start to catch up with me; I have 4 due this week. But, while having a study break, I went out to my local shopping centre, and the first thing that grabbed my attention was "ALL BOOKS $5 EACH" (AUD). How could I not stop and take a look. I did behave though, I only bought 2 books. I was a bit disappointed that they only had some books from a series, other wise I would have purchased more (I didn't quite feel like having book 3, if I haven't read book 1+2 yet). Anyway, the two books that I did purchase were:

Spells by Aprilynne Pike
Summary (Goodreads): Six months have passed since Laurel saved the gateway to the faerie realm of Avalon. Now she must spend her summer there, honing her skills as a Fall faerie. But her human family and friends are still in mortal danger--and the gateway to Avalon is more compromised than ever.

When it comes time to protect those she loves, will she depend on David, her human boyfriend, for help? Or will she turn to Tamani, the electrifying faerie with whom her connection is undeniable?

I haven't read Wings yet, but this book sounded really interesting, and I liked the cover! I plan to go back sometime this week and see if they have put Wings on sale.

If I Stay by Gayle Forman
Summary (Goodreads): In a single moment, everything changes. Seventeen-year-old Mia has no memory of the accident; she can only recall riding along the snow-wet Oregon road with her family. Then, in a blink, she finds herself watching as her own damaged body is taken from the wreck...

A sophisticated, layered, and heart achingly beautiful story about the power of family and friends, the choices we all make—and the ultimate choice Mia commands.

Another series. What am I getting myself into? (more reading, but I love it, so that's ok) Sounds good though.

What did you get in your mailbox this week?

Slow start to April; & Book Seat

I think I've hit a bit of a reading 'brick wall' with the book I am currently reading. It's partially my fault, for reading the book after seeing the movie, and for also buying so many interesting books before finishing my current one. Actually, I guess it’s wholly my fault :P. I'm currently reading the Secret Life of Bees by Sue Monk Kid. The movie was fairly good, and it’s been on my ‘to read’ list ever since. But it seems to be taking me a long time to read it, and I’m not sure why. I don’t like to not finish a book, but I’ve started Evermore by Alyson Noel, and have put the Secret Life of Bees back on the shelf for the time being. It seems a shame, as I’m only about 60 pages from the end.

Has this ever happened to you? Is there anything that helps you get through it?

Anyway, on a brighter note, I’d like to introduce you to a product that I got for Christmas. You may or may not have seen them before, but it was a fairly new thing for me, and I’ve been using it ever since I got it! I usually read at night, and my fingers often get numb from holding my book for long periods of time. So, for Christmas, I convinced my parents to get me a.... *drum roll*... Book Seat!!

It’s an Australian invention, and it is exactly as the name suggests; it’s a Seat for your Book. Mine is rose coloured, and takes pride of place on my bedside table, along with my current novel. During winter, it allows me to keep my hands warm under a blanket or inside a jacket, and during summer it allows me to sip a nice refreshing beverage while reading. Quite possibly the best present I have ever received! I’m not sure if they are available for purchase outside Australia, but I hope so, cause I love mine and think everyone should have one.

Have you seen these before? Now having seen them, would you want one? Let me know. Also, I'm still on the hunt for the perfect bookshelf, but hopefully that will all be sorted in a week or two.
